How to Function in the Supernatural (A Guide for Believers)
Discover how to boldly walk in the Supernatural!.
Hey Beloved!
Last time, we delved into the incredible power of FAITH β that foundational trust in God that can move mountains! Well, get ready, because today we're stepping further into what that faith unlocks: Functioning in the Supernatural! Now, I know that word "supernatural" can sometimes sound a bit out there, maybe even a little spooky for some. But for us as believers, itβs simply the natural way of life when we're connected to our supernatural God!
What Does "Supernatural" Even Mean for Us?
When we talk about the supernatural, we're not talking about chasing after strange phenomena. We're talking about God's *super*-nature working in and through our *human* lives. It's His power, His wisdom, His grace, and His abilities made manifest in our everyday circumstances. Itβs understanding that life is more than what meets the eye. Life is deeply spiritual in nature, influencing our thoughts, decisions, and experiences in ways we often fail to recognize. Whether we acknowledge it or not, the spiritual realm is at work around us, shaping the course of our lives.
The amazing truth is, as children of God, we're designed to live beyond the limitations of the purely physical realm. We have access to divine power!
π Philippians 4:13 (KJV) boldly declares, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." That "all things" includes operating in ways that defy natural explanation!
And where does this strength come from? π Ephesians 6:10 (KJV) tells us, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might." It's HIS might, flowing through us!
The Engine Room: The Holy Spirit Within
The key to all of this is the precious Holy Spirit who lives inside every believer who receives Him. He is our direct link to the supernatural. Think about this incredible promise: π Romans 8:11 (KJV) β "But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you." The same Spirit that conquered death lives in US! Thatβs resurrection power available for our daily lives, to bring life, healing, and breakthrough.
An Encounter with the Voice of God: My Own Journey
I remember a time when this became so real to me. A friend had shared his experience of hearing God's voice audibly, saying, "Seek and you shall find." This truly inspired me, and I began to desire a similar encounter. After a particularly exhausting day, I sat on my bed to pray and started simply with, "Father in the name of Jesus." To my surprise, I unexpectedly fell asleep. This had never happened before, as I was usually so eager and alert during prayer.
Iβm unsure how long I slept, but suddenly, I was awakened by a powerful, authoritative voice that said, "Wake up!" It was so distinct β both internal and external, impossible to pinpoint where it came from, but compelling enough to rouse me from a deep sleep. Upon waking, I realized I had fallen asleep while praying. Apologizing to God, I immediately began praying in tongues and felt an unmistakable strength flood through meβI was renewed by the Holy Spirit. This experience deepened my understanding of Godβs constant willingness to engage with us, even in our moments of weakness or when we don't expect it. It also powerfully reinforced the transformative power of prayer and the vital importance of staying connected to Him. He is always ready to meet us and empower us.
Quick Question: Have you ever had an experience where you felt God's supernatural intervention or guidance in a way that surprised you? How did it change your perspective on His involvement in your life?
Our Divine Toolkit: Gifts of the Spirit
God doesn't just tell us to live supernaturally; He equips us! π 2 Peter 1:3 (KJV) assures us, "According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue."
Part of this divine provision includes the gifts of the Spirit. π 1 Corinthians 12:1, 4-11 (KJV) opens up this amazing topic: "Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant... Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will."
These aren't just for "super-saints" β they are for "every man" to profit everyone! And speaking in tongues, as it happened at Pentecost (π Acts 2:4 KJV: "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance"), is a powerful gift for personal edification and a sign to unbelievers.
The Commission is Clear
Jesus didn't just model a supernatural life; He commissioned His disciples to live it too! π Matthew 10:1 (KJV) β "And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease." This authority wasn't just for them back then. As we saw with the early church, they expected and prayed for God's supernatural power to be demonstrated: π Acts 4:30-31 (KJV) β "By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness."
Scripture Meditation: Living Through Him
Let this profound truth sink deep into your spirit today:
π Galatians 2:20 (KJV) β "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."
It's Christ *in you* who is the source of this supernatural life. When we understand this, we realize it's not about our ability, but His ability working through us.
Final Thoughts: Are You Expecting the Supernatural?
