How to Walk in Your Spiritual Authority (Biblical Keys)
Walking in the authority that Christ has given you is key to effective spiritual living. Learn to exercise that power!
Hey Beloved!
Last time, we chatted about the incredible truth of our identity in Christ β how we're new creations, part of God's VIP family! π Pretty amazing, right? Well, buckle up, because understanding who you are is the launching pad for understanding what you can do through Him. Today, we're diving into a topic that flows directly from that identity: Walking in Your Authority!
Now, when we hear "authority," sometimes we think of being bossy or having power over people. But that's not what we're talking about here. Spiritual authority, the kind God gives us, is about operating with Heaven's backing to enforce God's will on earth. Itβs about knowing that the King of Kings has your back!
Jesus Himself made this incredibly clear. He wasn't just powerful in Himself; He delegated that power to us! Check this out:
π Luke 10:19 (AMP) β βListen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you".
Wow! Read that again. He GIVES US power over ALL the power of the enemy. Thatβs not a suggestion; it's a declaration of whatβs been handed to us! It's like a police officer who has authority because of the badge and the force they represent. Our "badge" is Christ in us!
But how do we actually walk in this? It starts with believing what He said!
The Commission and The Promise
Jesus didn't just talk about this authority; He demonstrated it and then passed the baton.
π Luke 9:1 (KJV) β "Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases."
He gave it to them, and guess what? That commission extends to us, His present-day disciples! This authority isn't based on our own merit, but on His gracious choosing. As π Romans 11:5 (KJV) beautifully states, "Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace." We are part of that chosen remnant, empowered by His grace!
And if there was any doubt, look at what He said would accompany believers:
π Mark 16:17-18 (KJV) β "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."
These aren't just for a special few; they are for "them that believe." That's YOU, Beloved!
Quick Question: When was the last time you consciously used your authority in a situation? Maybe speaking peace over a chaotic moment, praying with authority for healing, or resisting a temptation firmly? Let's reflect on that.
Where Does This Confidence Come From?
Feeling a little intimidated by all this? Thinking, "Who, me?" That's where knowing your identity kicks in again!
π 1 John 4:4 (KJV) β "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."
The GREATER One lives in YOU! His power, His authority, resides within you. It's not about your personal strength, but His.
And get this β our position is already secured!
π Ephesians 2:6 (KJV) β "And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus."
We're not fighting for victory; we're enforcing the victory Christ already won, and we do it from a position of being seated with Him in heavenly places! Imagine that! You're operating from the spiritual high ground.
Scripture Meditation: A Jaw-Dropping Example!
Need to see authority in action in a BIG way from the Old Testament? This one always blows my mind:
π Joshua 10:12-14 (KJV) β "Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel."
Joshua, a man, spoke to the sun and moon, and God backed him up! Why? Because Joshua was walking in the authority God had given him for that specific task. Now, we might not be commanding celestial bodies daily, but this shows the incredible extent to which God will honor the authority He delegates to His children when we're aligned with His will. Itβs about divine partnership!
Final Thoughts: Are You Walking It Out?
Beloved, this authority is real. Itβs been given to you. Itβs not just a nice theological concept; itβs a spiritual weapon, a tool, and a mandate.
- Do you believe you have this authority?
- Are you consciously choosing to walk in it daily?
- What areas of your life (your home, your mind, your circumstances) need the authority of Christ spoken over them?
You are not powerless. You are not a victim. You are a child of the King, endowed with His authority!
Let's Continue This Journey
Let this truth marinate in your spirit:
π 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) β "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
That power is the authority we're talking about!
Remember: You are equipped, you are authorized, and you are more than a conqueror through Him who loves you!
Ponder π€ What if you used this authority given to you by Christ to effect changes and enforce God's will in your life and on earth?
